From 1984 to 2000, Pat rose to the elite heights of ultra-marathon running, setting national and international records in the sport, while raising millions of dollars for charities such as Diabetes Australia.
In 2000, Pat was named Achiever of the Year, and in the same year was elected to Parliament as the Federal Member for Macarthur, serving in the Howard Government until his retirement in 2010.
